Cancellation Policy

We know how special each and every sailing adventure is for our guests, so we do our best to work with everybody’s individual needs, wants and circumstances.  We only have limited space, so canceling a trip last-minute impacts us greatly. Just as important is the fact that once a day is booked, that spot becomes unavailable for someone who would have booked otherwise.  Please be sure of your travel plans before making a reservation.

Trip Coverage

We know plans change when on vacation.  In order to allow more flexibility, Serendipity Charters is offering the option to purchase Trip Coverage for our charters.  Should you cancel for any reason 48 hours before your trip, we will give you full refund of your deposit (Coverage policy is not refundable).

Weather Cancellation

We have a high standard of safety for all of our trips. If ocean or weather conditions are unsafe Serendipity Charters at their sole discretion will cancel that days charter. We will do our best to reschedule, with no cost. If this is not possible we will give a refund. If we are able to make this call before our crew prepares the boat, we will give a full refund. If our crew has already prepared the boat and the trip is cancelled, we will give a full refund, minus $75.

If Clients Cancel

Because we are exclusively private, once a deposit is received  and/or a reservation made we block out that date for other guests.

The following fee will be applied to a deposit if a reservation in cancelled:

90+ days before trip date, Full Refund

89-61 days, $50

60-31 days, $100

31-8 days, $200.

Within a week of your date, we will not give credits or refunds of any kind. In case of cancellation, please contact us at info@sailingcostarica.com or (506) 8699.5260 as soon as possible, and we will provide you with the final details of the cancellation.

For Overnight Charters:

90+ days before trip date, Full Refund

89-61 days, 20%

60-31 days, 50%

31-8 days, $75%

If  you arrive late for your tour, you forfeit the lost time. We cannot make it up after the allotted tour time.

PLEASE NOTE: Refunds might be subject to non-refundable service fees charged by the payment processors (such as Stripe).

Transferring

Transferring to another date or selling your date to lessen fees incurred: If you have reserved a trip and find that you can’t attend, please contact us. If you would prefer to transfer to another available date, you may transfer trip credit to a reservation within one year of your ORIGINAL arrival date non-peak period only less the penalties listed above. Peak period dates are determined by Sailing Costa Rica and are subject to change. We cannot transfer reservations at no cost because once you sign up, numerous arrangements are made for you immediately and other potential guests have been denied your reserved space. You may sell your reserved trip to another person you recruit at any time.
